Keflex, a highly active cephalosporin antibiotic, is one of the most widely used antibiotics.
It is used as an effective treatment for urinary tract infection, skin infections, digestive tract infection, urinary tract infections and kidney infections. Keflex, like other cephalosporin antibiotics, are considered extremely safe as they have few, if any, reported side effects.
Keflex (cephalexin), also known as ceftriaxone, is an anti-inflammatory cephalosporin antibiotic that is used to treat severe bacterial infections in humans. Ceftriaxone is also commonly used before cosmetic procedures on patients diagnosed with certain heart related problems to prevent further infection of the heart called endocarditis, which is caused by bacteria residing in the blood vessels that supply blood to the heart.
Keflex, like all other cephalosporin antibiotics, has no known significant side effects when taken by pregnant women. However, in order to be safe, women who plan to become pregnant should not take ceftriaxone unless prescribed by their doctor. Caution should also be taken when using ceftriaxone by people who have liver or kidney disease or those with bleeding disorders.
When compared to other antibiotics, ceftriaxone has fewer side effects, such as reduced stomach or intestinal bleeding, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, fatigue, nausea and vomiting. These side effects are not generally seen in pregnant women.
In addition to its use to treat kidney infections, ceftriaxone can also be used to reduce the risk of colon cancer. The possibility of this occurring is due to the fact that the drug may cause DNA damage to the DNA strands in the gut wall, leading to the formation of carcinoma in the colon. Other less serious side effects of ceftriaxone are temporary nausea, dizziness, itching, upset stomach, headache and vomiting.
As with most antibiotics, ceftriaxone may cause a decrease in white blood cell count in people with chronic kidney infection. Although rare, it may also cause skin rashes.
It is not known how ceftriaxone affects the level of a person’s blood pressure.
A study conducted by a group of researchers from the University of Pittsburgh showed that ceftriaxone, when used in conjunction with metronidazole, an oral anti-inflammatory used in the treatment of urinary tract infection, decreased the risk of kidney and bladder cancer. However, the results of this study did not indicate any effect of ceftriaxone on lung cancer.
While cephalosporin antibiotics have been shown to be relatively safe for patients with kidney infections, some research is now being done to see if ceftriaxone may be linked to some types of kidney failure or even some types of cancer. More studies are still needed to determine whether or not ceftriaxone is a suitable choice for treating kidney infections in pregnant women, as there are no long term studies done yet.
If you are suffering from kidney infections or want to protect your baby from these infections, it is important to stay away from ceftriaxone. You should also avoid getting pregnant while taking the drug. Because of the possible side effects of ceftriaxone on both the unborn child and the fetus, it is always best to consult a doctor or obstetrician before taking or using any prescription medication.
Some side effects of ceftriaxone include an increased chance of kidney stones. If you are pregnant and you are considering taking this drug, do not take it on its own without first consulting with your doctor. You should also notify your doctor if you plan to become pregnant soon after stopping cephalosporin antibiotics or if you had kidney problems before.
If you are planning on conceiving, be sure to discuss this with your doctor about ceftriaxone and other medications that may interact with it and may cause problems with the development of your baby or your kidneys or kidney infections. If you decide to take this medication to prevent pregnancy, it is important to tell your doctor of your plans to stop taking the medication early before conceiving. Some studies suggest that ceftriaxone may interact with birth control pills or other medications and cause a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy.
Ceftriaxone is used to treat kidney infections and to reduce the risks of bladder or kidney cancers in people with a history of kidney infections or cancer. For most people, the risk of side effects and possible dangers of ceftriaxone are much lower than the risks of many other medications.
